About Rory Gene Safir

Rory Safir is a DUI and criminal defense lawyer in St. Petersburg, Florida, the founder of Safir Injury & Criminal Defense Law, and a member of the Faculty of the National College for DUI Defense. He is one of fewer than 120 attorneys in the country, and as of this writing one of only six in Florida, to earn the ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist designation from the Chemistry and the Law Division of the American Chemical Society, which means he is trained to challenge forensic evidence with the same scientific principles crime labs use. He earned the designation through hands-on training at Axion Analytical Labs in Chicago in forensic gas chromatography, pharmacology, and toxicology. He has run the same instruments crime labs use to measure blood alcohol, and that background lets him find errors in breath, blood, and urine testing that other lawyers may miss. His criminal practice centers on DUI defense, with a heavy emphasis on chemical testing and drug DUI cases. Rory is recognized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as both a practitioner and an instructor of Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, qualified to teach officers and lawyers how the tests are supposed to be administered.
