About Dayne C. Phillips

Dayne C. Phillips is a criminal defense and DUI attorney representing clients primarily in Columbia, SC, Lexington, SC, and the surrounding Midlands region. Operating out of Price Benowitz LLP (sccriminallaws.com), he focuses his practice on complex state and federal criminal litigation, DUI defense, appellate practice, and post-conviction relief. As a State Delegate for the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD), his approach to DUI defense is grounded in advanced scientific and tactical training. He is a graduate of both the National Criminal Defense College (NCDC) and the National Forensic College, providing him with the additional knowledge required to challenge breathalyzer test results, field sobriety tests, and forensic evidence in South Carolina courts. His comprehensive understanding of the South Carolina justice system stems from his extensive background in public defense. He previously served as an Assistant Public Defender in the Eleventh Circuit Public Defender's Office and as an Assistant Appellate Defender in the Appellate Division of the South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense. He also clerked for prominent defense attorney John Delgado during his legal studies. He earned both his Bachelor's degree (2007) and his Juris Doctor (2010) from the University of South Carolina. Beyond the courtroom, he is a recognized leader in South Carolina's legal community. He serves as the director of the SCACDL trial college for criminal defense lawyers and frequently speaks at continuing legal education (CLE) seminars. His recent instructional topics include South Carolina criminal practice essentials, firearms law, drug litigation, and appellate strategy for organizations like the SC Bar and the Commission on Indigent Defense.
